History of furqat district

The village of "Navbahor", the center of Furqat district, which is part of Fergana region, was originally called Gorsky village and was mentioned on April 11, 1899, when the first train entered Kokhan from Khovs.
Gorsky Anton Gavrilovich (1846-1901) was one of the founders of the railway. He headed the 4th part of the construction of the Samarkand - Andijan railway. In 1943, 58 collective farms were united and Gorsky district was established. In 1959, Gorsky district was dissolved and annexed to the district of Uzbekistan. In 1962, it was transferred to the Kirov region.
Furqat district was established based on the decision No. 182 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 5, 1991, the decision No. 21917 of the Executive Committee of the Regional Council of People's Deputies dated July 25, 1991, and the decision No. 573 of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated April 9, 1992. Since 1992, Gorsky village, the center of Furqat district, was named "Navbahor", later it was transformed into the city of "Navbahor".
